About Oakwood
Who we are.
Oakwood Community Church is a new church plant centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the good news of who Jesus is and what He has done shapes every part of life and draws people into meaningful relationship with God and one another.
We are committed to the authority of Scripture. We are building a church marked by grace, truth, and mission, where disciples are made, faith is strengthened, and Christ is lifted high.

What we believe
Oakwood is part of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
The Bible
The Bible is God's word: trustworthy, true, and our final authority for faith and life.
God
There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus
Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived the life we couldn't, died the death we deserved, and rose again so we could be made right with God.
Salvation
Salvation is a gift of grace received through faith in Jesus, not something we earn by being good enough.
The Church
The church is God's family on mission together, worshiping, growing, and carrying the hope of Jesus into the world.

Pastor Jay
Lead Pastor
Jay has spent the past 13 years serving in local church ministry, along with time serving as a missionary in Africa. He loves seeing people encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. Jay and his wife, Stacy, have four children and are grateful to call the Des Moines area home.
